Maybe you’ve thought of cooking them a special breakfast, but have not had the time or inspiration in the past? Why not get in touch with your creative side and learn how to make pancake art? With Happy Grub and a teensy bit of creativity, you can easily shake and squeeze your way into creating beautiful pancake works of art!

What is Pancake Art?

Pancakes are a staple breakfast food for many households, but some are taking it to the next level with pancake art. By definition, pancake art is the art of creating designs and patterns using pancake batter (you can also get a little “extra” with fruit and toppings). This creative way of making pancakes has become increasingly popular on social media, so you may have seen family, friends and creators sharing their pancake art creations online. Not only is it a fun activity for families, but it’s a great way to introduce kids to helping in the kitchen. We’re big on making memories not messes, which is why we created Happy Grub. Even your littlest sous chef who likes to pretend to cook can participate!

How To Make Heart Shaped Pancakes

Making heart shaped pancakes is easy, even without heart shaped pancake molds, when you use Happy Grub Squeezable Pancake Mix! We specifically designed our squeezable pancake mix bottle to make it fool-proof to carefully dispense batter onto a griddle or frying pan. Our batter comes mixed and ready to use - just add water! So forget measuring out ingredients or mixing the batter yourself with hungry kids in the kitchen – go easier on yourself!
Squeezable pancake mix is also a great way to control portion sizes, so you can dispense the exact amount of batter you need, and you (and your little helpers) don't end up with too much or too little. This is especially important with pancake art when it’s vital to have the right amount of batter to create your delicate, edible works of art! Ready to start? Let’s get cooking!
Steps to Make Our Heart Shaped Pancakes

1. Prepare the Instant Squeezable Pancake Mix

Start preparing the Squeezable Instant Pancake Mix and adding water, shaking it up! (Or if you don’t have Happy Grub on hand, you can fill up a plastic bag with your own pancake batter, and cut a medium sized hole for piping). If your batter isn't free flowing, just add a bit more water and shake again.

    2. Heat the Griddle or Frying Pan

Next, heat a griddle or frying pan over medium heat. Make sure the surface is well oiled or coated with cooking spray to prevent the pancakes from sticking.

    3. Create the Heart Shape

To create the heart shape, grab your squeezable Happy Grub pancake mix bottle. Begin by squeezing out a small amount of batter in the center of the griddle or frying pan. Then, use the squeeze bottle to create the two sides of the heart shape by squeezing out the batter in an arc, starting at the center and moving outwards. Connect the two sides of the heart by squeezing out more batter to complete the shape.

    4. Cook the Pancakes

Once you've created the heart shape, let the pancakes cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they're golden brown. The best indicator when the pancakes are ready to flip is bubbles forming in the batter. When you slide the spatula underneath the pancake and you don't get any resistance or drag, carefully flip the pancakes and cook the other side.

    5. Serve and Enjoy!

Once the pancakes are cooked, serve them with your favorite toppings like peanut butter, or fruit. If you want to go one step further with an added dash of creativity, arrange the pancakes on a serving platter in the shape of a heart, and use cinnamon, cocoa or other toppings to create another heart shape for a cohesive look.
